Fibrotica is a fictional medical term used in speculative fiction and hypothetical medical discourse to describe a systemic fibrotic disorder. The term is not recognized by real-world clinical guidelines but is used to explore concepts of fibrogenesis and multiorgan involvement.

In the imagined disease, fibrotica features progressive activation of fibroblasts and excessive deposition of extracellular matrix, particularly collagen, in skin, lungs, heart, gastrointestinal tract, and sometimes the kidneys. This leads to thickened, inelastic tissues and a gradual loss of organ function. Common clinical features in fictional portrayals include cutaneous induration with reduced skin flexibility, joint contractures, dyspnea from pulmonary fibrosis, dysphagia from esophageal involvement, and fatigue. The course is usually progressive, though onset and speed vary by narrative. In the fictional pathophysiology, triggers may include autoimmune dysregulation, environmental exposures, and genetic susceptibility, with TGF-beta signaling highlighted as a central driver of fibrogenesis.

Diagnosis in such works relies on clinical findings supported by imaging showing diffuse fibrotic changes and histology demonstrating dense collagen with scarce inflammatory cells and activated myofibroblasts. Management is typically supportive, with emphasis on physical therapy to preserve mobility, treatment of organ involvement, and speculative or fictional antifibrotic interventions inspired by real-world therapies.

Because fibrotica is not a real medical diagnosis, it is primarily used as a narrative device or thought experiment rather than a clinically defined condition.
