Fellesmoduskoblers, also known as common-mode chokes or common-mode filters, are passive electronic components used to suppress common-mode noise in electrical circuits. They work by introducing a high impedance to signals that are common to all conductors in a cable or circuit path, while allowing differential-mode signals (the intended data or signal) to pass through with minimal attenuation. This is typically achieved by winding two or more coils on a single ferrite core.

The principle of operation relies on the magnetic flux generated by the current in each winding. In a differential-mode signal, the currents flow in opposite directions, creating magnetic fluxes that cancel each other out. This results in a low impedance to the desired signal. However, in common-mode noise, the currents flow in the same direction. This generates a cumulative magnetic flux that is not canceled. The ferrite core, with its high permeability, significantly increases the impedance of the choke to these common-mode currents, effectively blocking the noise.
