fellese

Fellese is a constructed language developed for the fictional Fell universe. It is described as the native tongue of the Fellese people who inhabit the coast and islands of the Fell region. In the canon texts, Fellese is presented as having its own grammar, lexicon, and writing system. A small online community studies its structure and vocabulary.

Phonology and writing: Fellese has five vowels (a e i o u) and about 15 consonants, including p, t, k, f, s, h, m, n, l, r, j, w. Syllables typically conform to (C)(C)V(C). Primary stress falls on the penultimate syllable. The writing system is a Latin-based alphabet with diacritics to indicate vowel length or quality.

Grammar: The basic word order is subject–verb–object. Nouns do not mark gender; number is expressed with a plural suffix -on or by plural articles. Verbs carry tense and aspect suffixes rather than separate words. Adjectives follow nouns, and determiners precede them. Postpositions mark spatial and other relational cases. Pronouns include I, you, he/she, we, you (plural), they.

Usage and status: Fellese is primarily used within fan-created material, role-playing contexts, and linguistic exercises. It has no official status as a natural language and is not widely spoken outside dedicated communities. Researchers and hobbyists document its features to support world-building projects.
