Fehérvérsejtekkel, more commonly known as white blood cells or leukocytes, are an essential component of the immune system. They are produced in the bone marrow and circulate throughout the body in the blood and lymph. Their primary function is to defend the body against infection and disease.

There are several types of white blood cells, each with a specific role. Neutrophils are the most abundant and are crucial in fighting bacterial infections. The number of white blood cells in the blood can fluctuate depending on the body's needs. An elevated white blood cell count, known as leukocytosis, often indicates an infection or inflammation. Conversely, a low count, or leukopenia, can impair the body's ability to fight off infections and may be caused by certain medical conditions or treatments. Monitoring white blood cell counts is a common diagnostic tool in medicine.
