Feed labeling refers to the labeling requirements for animal feeds and feed ingredients. It defines what information must appear on a product package and how it must be presented, with the aim of helping buyers use feeds safely and effectively.

A typical feed label includes: the product name and purpose; net weight; name and address of the manufacturer or distributor; a guaranteed analysis showing minimum or maximum levels of nutrients such as crude protein, crude fat, crude fiber, ash, and moisture; a complete list of ingredients in descending order by weight as fed; feeding directions and use recommendations; storage and handling instructions; and batch or lot number and manufacture date. For medicated feeds, a separate medicated feed tag or supplement label is required, detailing active drug ingredients, dosage, withdrawal times, and use restrictions.

Regulatory oversight varies by region but commonly centers on government agencies responsible for food and animal health. In the United States, feed labeling is overseen by the Food and Drug Administration and often guided by the Association of American Feed Control Officials model regulations, with industry-wide practices including the use of guaranteed analysis and ingredient lists. In the European Union and other regions, labeling is governed by regional feed regulations that specify similar information, including species or category, intended use, ingredients, and nutritional guarantees.

Labels must be accurate and not misleading; mislabeling can trigger penalties, recalls, or enforcement actions. Proper labeling supports animal health, traceability, and consumer confidence in animal feeds.
