Ezüstérc is a Hungarian term that translates to "silver ore" in English. It refers to naturally occurring rocks or mineral deposits from which silver can be extracted profitably. Silver is a precious metal that has been valued for its beauty, conductivity, and monetary worth throughout history. While pure silver is rare in nature, it is often found in combination with other elements, most commonly sulfur, forming mineral compounds.

The most important silver-bearing minerals include argentite (Ag2S), also known as silver glance, which is silver sulfide, and polybasite ((Ag,Cu)16Sb2S11), a complex sulfosalt of silver and antimony.
