Exploatace is a social and economic phenomenon defined as the act of taking advantage of people or resources for gain, often under conditions that are unethical or illegal. It covers practices where individuals or communities are deprived of fair terms, rights, or benefits. Common forms include labor exploitation, where workers face underpayment, excessive or dangerous working conditions, or coercion; and resource exploitation, which involves extracting natural resources in a way that harms ecosystems or local populations. The term can also apply to exploitation of information or digital labor, where terms are unfair or opaque.

Etymology and usage: The concept is commonly traced to exploitation in French and related linguistic roots, with exploatace adopted in Czech to describe these broader practices. The term is used across historical and contemporary analyses to indicate unequal or coercive extraction of value.

Causes and dynamics: Exploitative practices arise from power imbalances, economic incentives, and gaps in governance.
