etiketimin

Etiketimin is a Turkish linguistic form formed from the noun etiket (etiquette, manners, or label) with the first-person possessive suffix -im to create etiketim, meaning “my etiquette” or “my label.” When the genitive suffix -in attaches to this possessor form, the result etiketimin expresses the sense “of my etiquette” or “my etiquette’s” and is used to link to another noun in a possessive construction, as in etiketimin kuralları, meaning “the rules of my etiquette.”

In Turkish, such multi-layer possessive phrases are common. The possessive suffixes attach in sequence to build expressions like “my X’s Y,” where X is the possessor noun and Y is the possessed noun. The form etiketimin itself does not designate a standalone concept; rather, it serves as the head of a possessive phrase that specifies ownership over or relation to another noun.

Usage and sense: etiketimin can denote personal etiquette or, in a different sense, a literal label or tag owned by the speaker. It appears in contexts discussing manners, protocols, or objects labeled by the speaker. Examples include phrases such as etiketimin gereği olarak (as my etiquette requires) or etiketimin kuralları (the rules of my etiquette).
