ensüütide
ensüütide is a term used in Estonia to refer to people who have been forcibly relocated or deported from their homes. This phenomenon is primarily associated with the Soviet occupation of Estonia during the 20th century. Following the Soviet annexation of Estonia in 1940 and again after World War II, numerous Estonians were subjected to mass deportations, often to remote and harsh regions of the Soviet Union, such as Siberia. These deportations were part of a broader Soviet policy aimed at suppressing national identity and consolidating political control.
The ensüütide faced severe hardships, including forced labor, poor living conditions, and separation from their families.
