Energyconditioning, in the context of electrical power, refers to the processes and devices used to improve the quality and reliability of electrical energy supplied to loads. The goal is to reduce voltage sags and swells, stabilize voltage and frequency, limit noise and disturbances, control harmonics, and improve overall power factor. Energy conditioning is typically achieved through a combination of power conditioning equipment such as voltage regulators, uninterruptible power supplies, surge suppressors, filters, and energy storage or generation controls.

Common configurations include standalone power conditioners that sit between the utility supply and the load, and integrated solutions inside equipment or data centers. UPS systems provide short-term energy storage and automatic transfer to an alternate source; voltage regulators adjust low or high line voltages; harmonic filters suppress distortion; and surge protection devices guard against transient overvoltages.

Applications span data centers, manufacturing facilities, medical devices, laboratory instrumentation, telecommunications, and renewable energy installations where unstable or noisy power could affect performance or safety.

Performance is measured using power quality metrics such as voltage deviation from nominal values, total harmonic distortion, crest factor, frequency stability, and outage duration.
