elementus
Elementus is a theoretical category of subatomic particles that has been proposed within extensions of the Standard Model of particle physics. The term derives from the Latin word *elementum*, meaning an essential constituent. In the most commonly cited models, each elementus consists of a bound state of a quark and a novel fermionic partner that carries a fractional electric charge of ±1/3 or ±2/3. These hypothetical particles are hypothesized to possess a unique color charge assignment that allows them to form composite structures distinct from ordinary hadrons.
