Elektrisõidukitega, commonly referred to as electric vehicles (EVs), are powered by one or more electric motors that draw power from a rechargeable battery pack. This contrasts with traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles that rely on burning fossil fuels. EVs produce zero tailpipe emissions, making them a more environmentally friendly option for transportation compared to gasoline or diesel cars. The technology behind electric vehicles has advanced significantly, leading to increased battery range, faster charging times, and a wider variety of vehicle types available, including cars, buses, trucks, and motorcycles.

The charging infrastructure for electric vehicles is expanding globally. EVs can be charged at home using a standard outlet or a dedicated charging station, or at public charging stations found in parking lots, shopping centers, and along highways. These public stations vary in charging speed, from Level 1 (slowest) to Level 3 (fastest, often called DC fast charging). The cost of electricity for charging an EV is generally lower than the cost of gasoline for a comparable distance, and EVs also benefit from reduced maintenance costs due to fewer moving parts compared to ICE vehicles.

Governments worldwide are promoting the adoption of electric vehicles through various incentives, such as tax credits, rebates, and preferential parking or toll policies. These initiatives aim to reduce air pollution, decrease reliance on fossil fuels, and combat climate change. As battery technology continues to improve and production scales up, the cost of electric vehicles is expected to become more competitive with traditional vehicles.
