The number 8 is the result of the exponentiation.

Exponents are crucial for simplifying complex calculations and for representing very large or very small numbers concisely. For instance, the distance to the nearest star is an enormous number, often expressed using scientific notation, which heavily relies on exponents (e.g., 4.06 x 10^16 meters). Similarly, the size of an atom is incredibly small, also represented with negative exponents (e.g., the radius of a hydrogen atom is approximately 5.3 x 10^-11 meters).

There are several rules governing operations with exponents. When multiplying numbers with the same base, exponents are added (e.g., x^m * x^n = x^(m+n)). When dividing, exponents are subtracted (e.g., x^m / x^n = x^(m-n)). Raising a power to another power involves multiplying the exponents (e.g., (x^m)^n = x^(m*n)). A base raised to the power of zero is always one (e.g., x^0 = 1), and a base raised to a negative exponent is the reciprocal of the base raised to the positive exponent (e.g., x^-n = 1/x^n).
