Einreisen is the act of entering a country from abroad. In German usage, the noun form is Einreise and the verb is einreisen; in English it is commonly rendered as entry or re-entry. The term encompasses both initial border crossings and the concept of re-entering after an absence. Entry is regulated by national immigration and border-control laws and depends on valid documents, appropriate permissions, and compliance with applicable rules.

Typical requirements include a valid passport or travel document, a visa or visa exemption, and an appropriate status (tourist, student, worker, or resident). Some travellers may need an electronic travel authorization or consular approval. In many cases, proof of sufficient funds, a return or onward ticket, and health or vaccination requirements can be requested.

Border procedures involve presenting documents to border officers on arrival, who assess admissibility and may verify intentions and legality of stay. Procedures can include stamping the passport, recording biometric data, and, in some jurisdictions, interviewing the traveller. Entry can be refused for reasons such as insufficient documents, false information, security concerns, or health risks, with possible detention, deportation, or a ban on re-entry.
