educacional

Educacional is an adjective used in Portuguese and Spanish to denote relations to education or the education sector. It can describe institutions, policies, materials, programs, and activities associated with learning and schooling.

Etymology: from Latin educatio, with the verb educare to educate, combined with suffix -al (and -onal variants) to form adjectives. It is cognate with the English term educational.

In Portuguese, educacional is common in formal discourse, such as sistemas educacionais, políticas educacionais, conteúdo educacional, tecnologia educacional, and serviços educacionais. In Spanish, educacional exists but is less common than educativo; educational contexts often prefer educativo or other terms, depending on country.
