Ealism is a philosophical position that asserts the existence of a single, objective reality that is independent of human perception, thought, or language. It is often contrasted with idealism, which posits that reality is fundamentally mental or subjective. Ealism holds that the world exists independently of our minds, and that our perceptions and beliefs about the world are merely reflections of this objective reality.

The term "ealism" is derived from the Latin word "res," meaning "thing" or "reality." It is a broad category that encompasses various philosophical views, including physicalism, which identifies physical properties with all properties, and materialism, which asserts that only physical entities exist. Ealism is also associated with the idea of a "mind-independent" reality, which suggests that the world continues to exist and function even when no one is around to perceive it.

Ealism faces several challenges, including the problem of other minds, which questions how we can be certain that other people have minds like our own, and the problem of induction, which concerns the reliability of our inferences about the future based on past experiences. Despite these challenges, ealism remains a prominent position in contemporary philosophy, influencing debates about the nature of reality, knowledge, and consciousness.
