eaglet
An eaglet is a young eagle. At hatching, eaglets are typically blind and covered in a layer of downy feathers. They are completely dependent on their parents for food and care. The parents will bring prey to the nest and tear it into small pieces for the eaglets to eat. As the eaglets grow, they develop their flight feathers and become more mobile within the nest. Fledging, the process of leaving the nest for the first time, usually occurs within a few months of hatching. Even after fledging, eaglets will often remain in the vicinity of their parents' territory for a period, continuing to be fed and learning hunting skills. The size and appearance of an eaglet vary depending on the species of eagle. For example, a bald eagle eaglet will look different from a golden eagle eaglet. The survival rate of eaglets can be influenced by factors such as food availability, predation, and environmental conditions.
