Doseregistre, or dose registries, are structured databases that systematically collect information about medicines and the doses administered to individuals, primarily within healthcare systems or research settings. Their main purpose is to support patient safety, treatment optimization, and pharmacovigilance by enabling observation of exposure, adherence, and outcomes across time.

Typical data elements include patient pseudonym or ID, medication name and generic/brand, dose and unit, route of administration, frequency and duration, administration date and time, prescriber, clinical setting, indication, patient demographics, and information on concomitant therapies and laboratory results where relevant.

Data sources commonly include electronic health records, pharmacy dispensing systems, infusion or administration logs, and clinical trial records. Registries may link with adverse event reporting systems to study dose-related safety signals.

Governance covers privacy, consent where required, data protection and de-identification, data quality controls, and access rights. In many regions doseregistre data are subject to national or regional data protection laws (for example GDPR in Europe). Interoperability is aided by standards such as HL7/FHIR for data exchange and coding systems like ATC, SNOMED CT, and LOINC.

Types of doseregistre include national or regional registries that track prescribed or administered doses, hospital-based registries focused on specific therapies, and trial-dose registries used during clinical studies. Benefits include improved dosing guidance, detection of dosing errors, and enhanced post-market surveillance; challenges include incomplete data capture, inconsistent coding, privacy concerns, and resource requirements.
