dopustimo

Dopustimo is a form of the verb dopustiti found in South Slavic languages such as Croatian, Bosnian, Serbian, and Montenegrin. The root dopustiti means to permit, allow, or tolerate, and it is built from the prefix do- plus pustiti, “to let” or “to allow.” The present tense, first person plural form dopustimo translates mainly as “we permit” but can also be used in a hortative sense meaning “let us permit/allow.”

In addition to the present indicative form, the verb has a full set of conjugations: dopustim (I permit), dopustiš (you permit), dopusti (he/she/it permits), dopustite (you all permit), and dopuste (they permit). The adjective dopustivo means “permissible” or “acceptable,” as in dopustivo ponašanje (“permissible/acceptable behavior”). The phrase dopustimo da… is commonly used to introduce a clause with a permission or suggestion, e.g., Dopustimo da svi sudjeluju (Let everyone participate).
