Derugosides are a group of bioactive compounds isolated from the marine sponge *Deroplia* (formerly classified under *Deroplia* spp., now often referred to as *Deroplia* or *Deroplia*-like sponges). These secondary metabolites belong to the class of polyketides and have garnered attention for their unique chemical structures and potential biological activities.

The first derugoside to be characterized was derugoside A, followed by derivatives such as derugoside B and C. These compounds typically feature a macrocyclic lactone ring fused with a polyol moiety, often containing hydroxyl and ester functional groups.
