Dentiere refers to dentures, removable dental prostheses that replace missing teeth and the surrounding gum tissue. They are designed to restore chewing ability, speech, and facial aesthetics for people who have lost teeth due to decay, injury, or disease. Dentures come in two main forms: complete dentures, which replace all teeth in an arch (upper or lower), and partial dentures, which fill gaps where some natural teeth remain and may anchor to existing teeth via clasps or modern attachments.

Materials and construction vary. Traditional complete dentures are usually made of acrylic resin, with artificial teeth set in a resin base. Partial dentures may use a combination of acrylic and a metal framework, while flexible partials are often made from nylon-like polymers. The fabrication process typically involves taking an impression of the mouth, creating a bite registration, and producing a series of fit-testing models before delivering the final prosthesis. A trial fitting ensures proper occlusion, fit, and aesthetics.

Use and care are essential. Dentures should be cleaned daily with a soft brush and denture cleaner, and stored in water or a mild solution when not worn. They should be handled carefully to avoid damage. Regular dental checkups are important to monitor fit, wear, and oral health; adjustments, relining, or rebasing may be needed over time as mouth structures change. Implant-supported dentures offer an alternative for improved stability in many cases.
