Dedicados is a term used in information technology to describe resources allocated for a single user or purpose without sharing with others. In hosting, dedicado refers to a dedicated hosting service, in which an entire physical server is leased to one client. This arrangement provides exclusive access to the server’s CPU, memory, storage and network bandwidth, along with full administrative control.

Characteristics include: root or administrator access, one or more dedicated IP addresses, and the choice of operating system. Depending on the provider, management can be unmanaged (the customer handles maintenance) or managed (the provider handles updates, security and monitoring). Hardware is usually located in a data center with physical security, redundancy and service-level agreements that guarantee a minimum uptime. In addition, dedicated servers can be bare-metal or part of a managed hardware stack; virtualization may be used or not.

Common use cases include high-traffic websites, large databases, enterprise applications, and environments with strict security or compliance requirements. The main advantages are predictable performance, strong isolation, customization, and the ability to tailor resources to workload. The main drawbacks are higher cost and the need for technical expertise or a managed service alternative.

Alternatives include virtual private servers and cloud-based instances, which offer greater scalability and lower upfront cost but share resources.
