This practice is common in regions with distinct summer and winter weather conditions to ensure optimal safety and performance. Typically, vehicles are equipped with summer tires for warmer months and winter tires for colder months. Summer tires are designed with a harder rubber compound and a tread pattern that provides better grip on dry and wet roads. Winter tires, on the other hand, are made from a softer rubber compound that remains flexible in low temperatures and feature a more aggressive tread pattern with deeper grooves and sipes to displace snow and ice effectively.
