In brane-world models, ordinary matter may reside on a three-dimensional brane embedded in a higher-dimensional space, while additional branes exist parallel in the bulk. A crossbrane interaction would involve physics that connects these otherwise separate branes.

Mechanisms proposed for crossbrane interactions include mediation by bulk fields such as gravitons or scalar moduli that propagate through the extra dimensions, direct overlap or intersection of branes, or portals created by specific geometric or field configurations.
