The effectiveness and appropriateness of a counterinsult are highly context-dependent, influenced by cultural norms, the relationship between the individuals involved, and the specific nature of the original insult. In some social circles or cultures, a sharp counterinsult might be seen as witty and a sign of strength, while in others, it could be perceived as immature or provocative, escalating the conflict.
