Corporealiteit is a philosophical concept that refers to the state of having a body or being physically embodied. It is the condition of existing as a physical entity, as opposed to being disembodied or purely spiritual. The term is often used in discussions concerning the relationship between mind and body, consciousness, and the nature of existence.

In philosophy, corporealiteit is a central theme in debates about dualism versus monism. Dualists, like René Descartes, propose a fundamental separation between the mind (a non-physical substance) and the body (a physical substance). In this view, corporealiteit is attributed solely to the physical aspect of a person. Monistic perspectives, on the other hand, argue that there is only one fundamental substance. Materialist monism asserts that only physical matter exists, making consciousness and mental states ultimately reducible to physical processes and therefore inherently corporeal. Idealist monism posits that reality is fundamentally mental, suggesting that the physical world, including our bodies, is a manifestation of mind.
