coneix

Coneix is the third-person singular present indicative form of the Catalan verb conèixer, which means to know, to be acquainted with, or to meet. The infinitive is conèixer. Conèixer is used for familiarity with people, places, or things based on experience, rather than for factual knowledge.

In present tense conjugation, the forms are: jo conec, tu coneixes, ell coneix, nosaltres coneixem, vosaltres coneixeu, ells coneixen. The form coneix is used with a singular subject, as in “Ell coneix la ciutat” or “Ella coneix a la seva professora.” When the reference is to a person, Catalan often uses the preposition a: “coneix a algú.” With places or things, you can say simply “coneix Barcelona” or “coneix aquest lloc.” The verb can also appear in figurative senses, such as becoming acquainted with a concept or idea.
