Cloudplayout refers to the delivery of scheduled linear television channels entirely from cloud infrastructure, combining media asset management, automation, and playout in a cloud environment. In this model, video assets are stored in object storage, processed by cloud-based encoders, and routed through an automated playout chain that can insert graphics, branding, and advertising before distributing to a content delivery network or downstream operators.

Core components typically include a scheduling and automation engine that sequences clips and ads, cloud-based playout servers or containers, a graphics and branding subsystem, ad insertion and monitoring capabilities, and an asset management layer that handles metadata and rights. The workflow usually encompasses ingesting and organizing content, transcoding and packaging for playback, executing the run of show through the automation system, applying graphics and branding, inserting ads where required, and distributing the completed stream to CDNs or broadcast networks. Cloud-native workflows often rely on IP-based transport standards and may implement multi-region redundancy to improve reliability.

Benefits of cloudplayout include scalability to launch or expand multiple channels quickly, flexible cost models, simplified disaster recovery and continuity planning, easier updates and maintenance, and broader geographic reach.
