Each technique records how a measurable quantity—current, potential, or charge—varies with time following a defined perturbation such as a potential step or current pulse. Instrumentation typically includes a potentiostat or galvanostat configured with a three-electrode cell and data acquisition capable of high temporal resolution, from microseconds to hours.
