Catalogmore is an open-source middleware platform designed to enhance search and discovery across heterogeneous catalogs in libraries, archives, and ecommerce environments. It provides aggregation, normalization, and enrichment of metadata from multiple sources to enable unified search and richer results.

Overview: Catalogmore implements a modular architecture built around connectors, a canonical metadata model, and a processing pipeline. Connectors harvest records from source catalogs and data feeds that may use MARC, Dublin Core, BIBFRAME, MODS, or proprietary schemas. The records are normalized to a common internal model, deduplicated, and enriched through authority files, subject headings, linked data, and external data services. The enriched records are then exposed to a target discovery system or search index via APIs or adapters.

Key capabilities: Catalogmore supports multi-source aggregation, deduplication and matching, metadata normalization, and authority control with enrichment. It provides faceted navigation and relevance tuning, and supports linked data through JSON-LD. The platform offers REST and GraphQL APIs and is designed for deployment in on-premises, private cloud, or containerized environments. Observability features include logging and analytics to monitor performance and data quality.

Deployment and ecosystem: Catalogmore is intended to integrate with existing discovery layers and library service platforms. It offers containerized deployment options, configuration templates, and connectors to common catalog systems, along with documentation to guide integration, testing, and optimization. The project emphasizes standards compliance and collaboration within a community of libraries and vendors.

History and status: The project originated in 2022 as a collaboration between libraries and software developers to address catalog fragmentation. A reference implementation and initial connectors were released in 2023 under an open-source license. Ongoing development emphasizes extensibility, interoperability, and community governance.
