Búvárruhát is a Hungarian term that translates to "diver's back" and refers to a specific style of diving suit. It is not a modern wetsuit or drysuit as commonly understood today. Historically, the term búvárruhát was used to describe the bulky, often made-to-measure, canvas or rubberized suits worn by early divers. These suits were typically paired with heavy lead boots and a metal diving helmet.

The design of the búvárruhát prioritized protection and the ability to withstand water pressure at shallow depths. They were characterized by their rigid construction, which offered limited flexibility and mobility for the diver. Air was supplied to the helmet from the surface through a hose, requiring a support team to manage the diver's life line and air supply.
