Bérbeadás is the contractual arrangement by which the owner of an asset allows another party to use it in exchange for rent for a defined period. The owner is the bérbeadó (lessor) and the user is the bérlő (lessee). The asset can be real estate, equipment, vehicles, or other movable property. The central instrument is typically a bérbeadási szerződés that specifies the subject matter, duration, rent, payment schedule, maintenance duties, and termination terms. The lessee obtains the right of use but does not acquire ownership; the lessor retains ownership and is generally responsible for title and, in the case of real estate, ensuring the asset is fit for use.
