Bulvins are a fictional species native to the planet Xylos in the Andromeda galaxy. They are a quadrupedal, herbivorous creature with thick, leathery skin that ranges in color from deep green to earthy brown, providing camouflage within their lush, forested environment. Bulvins possess a unique bioluminescent sac on their foreheads, which they use for communication, particularly during mating rituals and to ward off predators by emitting a pulsating, soft glow.

Their diet consists primarily of the nutrient-rich Xylosian mosses and the tender shoots of the native Lumina flora. Bulvins have a slow metabolism and are known for their docile nature, spending most of their lives grazing in peaceful herds. Their reproductive cycle is slow, with females typically giving birth to a single offspring every Xylosian cycle, which is approximately equivalent to three Earth years. Young bulvins are born blind and rely heavily on their mothers for protection for the first Xylosian month.

The primary predators of bulvins are the Xylosian Shadowcats, agile hunters that can move silently through the dense foliage. Despite their vulnerability, bulvins have a strong herd instinct, and when threatened, they will circle their young, using their tough hides as a defense and their bioluminescent sacs to disorient attackers. Their civilization, if it can be called that, is very rudimentary, focused on survival and communal grazing.
