Blodtryckets, also known as blood pressure, is a measure of the force exerted by blood against the walls of the blood vessels. It is typically expressed in millimeters of mercury (mmHg) and is recorded as two numbers: systolic pressure (the pressure when the heart beats) and diastolic pressure (the pressure when the heart rests between beats). Normal blood pressure is generally considered to be less than 120/80 mmHg.

Blood pressure can be measured using a sphygmomanometer, an instrument that inflates a cuff around the upper arm to restrict blood flow. A stethoscope is then used to listen for the sound of blood flowing through the artery. The cuff is gradually deflated, and the pressure at which the sound first appears (systolic pressure) and disappears (diastolic pressure) is recorded.

High blood pressure, or hypertension, is a common condition that can lead to serious health problems such as heart disease, stroke, and kidney failure if left untreated. Low blood pressure, or hypotension, can also be a concern and may indicate conditions such as dehydration, heart failure, or blood loss.
