Blodåreskader is the Scandinavian term for injuries to blood vessels, including arteries, veins and capillaries, that compromise the vessel wall and disrupt blood flow. They can result from trauma (blunt or penetrating), iatrogenic procedures, or disease processes such as aneurysm rupture or vasculitis. Arterial injuries often cause rapid, heavy bleeding with pulse pressure and may threaten limb or organ viability. Venous injuries tend to bleed more slowly but can lead to extensive hematoma and edema; microvascular injuries cause capillary leak and tissue swelling.
