The block header is significantly smaller than the full block data, making it efficient to transmit and store. Miners compete to find a valid nonce that, when combined with the other header data, produces a hash that meets the network's difficulty target. Once a valid block header is found, it is broadcast to the network, and other nodes can quickly verify its validity by checking the previous block hash, the Merkle root, and the hash against the difficulty target.
