Binnenunit is the indoor component of a split air conditioning or heat pump system. In Dutch HVAC terminology, the term binnenunit refers to the indoor unit. It is connected to an outdoor unit by refrigerant lines and electrical cables. The binnenunit houses the evaporator coil, a blower, and air filtration; it also contains a drain for condensate produced during cooling or dehumidification. Its primary function is to condition and distribute indoor air by cooling, heating, and dehumidifying as required by the operating mode.

Common configurations for the binnenunit include wall-mounted units, ceiling-mounted (cassette) units, floor-standing models, and ducted systems.
