bekeuring

Bekeuring is a penalty issued by public authorities for violations of laws or regulations, most commonly in the Dutch-speaking regions of the Netherlands and Belgium. It is most often encountered in road traffic enforcement but can also apply to municipal rules and other administrative norms. A bekeuring can be issued on the spot by a police officer or later by mail after observation by an officer, a traffic warden, or an automated device such as a speed camera.
