Bayraq is a Turkic-language term meaning flag or banner. It is used in Azerbaijani, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Uzbek, and other Turkic languages to denote a national, ceremonial, or military flag, as well as banners, standards, or ensigns. The word appears in everyday speech and in official, ceremonial, and heraldic contexts to refer to a flag or banner and often carries symbolic significance tied to identity and sovereignty.

Historically, bayraq banners served as symbols of leadership and territorial affiliation. In nomadic and medieval states across the Turkic world, a bayraq was carried into battles or displayed at settlements to signify the ruler, tribe, or army.
