Autoklávozási refers to the process of sterilization using an autoclave. An autoclave is a pressure chamber device used to sterilize equipment and supplies by means of high-pressure saturated steam. The high temperature and pressure generated within the autoclave effectively kill microorganisms, including bacteria, viruses, fungi, and spores, making it an essential tool in healthcare, laboratories, and various industries.

The sterilization cycle typically involves several stages. First, air is removed from the chamber to ensure proper steam penetration. Then, steam is introduced at a specific temperature and pressure, usually around 121 degrees Celsius (250 degrees Fahrenheit) and 15 psi, for a defined period, commonly 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the load. Following the sterilization period, the pressure is gradually released, and the chamber is dried. The effectiveness of the process is often monitored using biological indicators, chemical indicators, or physical indicators.
