Autoinduktori, often referred to as self-inductor or simply inductor, is a passive electronic component that stores electrical energy in a magnetic field when electric current flows through it. It typically consists of a coil of wire, often wound around a core material. This core can be made of air, iron, ferrite, or other magnetic materials, and its presence significantly influences the inductor's properties.

The fundamental principle behind an autoinduktor is electromagnetic induction. When the current flowing through the coil changes, it generates a changing magnetic field. This changing magnetic field, in turn, induces a voltage across the coil itself, opposing the change in current. This phenomenon is known as self-induction. The measure of an inductor's ability to oppose changes in current is its inductance, usually denoted by the symbol L and measured in henries (H).

Autoinduktorit are crucial in various electronic circuits. They are used for filtering, smoothing out fluctuations in direct current, storing energy in switching power supplies, and tuning circuits in radio frequency applications.
