Aristippus, often referred to as Aristippus of Cyrene, was an ancient Greek philosopher and the founder of the Cyrenaic school of hedonism. Born in Cyrene, a Greek colony in North Africa, around 435 BCE, he was a student of Socrates. Aristippus is known for his emphasis on pleasure as the highest good and the ultimate goal of life.
