Arenduskulusid refer to a type of flying ant that exhibits diel behavior, often referred to as'morning ants' or 'evening ants' in some languages. These flying ants are most notable for their emergence from colonies when temperatures are warmest, typically around sunrise or sunset.

The arenduskulusid are often associated with specific times of day, hence their nickname. In the morning, massive swarms of these ants take to the skies, with some areas experiencing repeated waves of numerous individuals over several hours. This phenomenon occurs when the swarm is dispersed and attracted to sources of food and water. In the evening, a similar process is observed, though typically with slightly smaller concentrations of ants.

During these daily emergences, the rusty-brown color of the ants often turns to a darker brown hue due to their scales' rigid nature, composed of close-packed stacks of crystals which define their texture and refractive properties. The wings themselves display unique venation patterns that differ from those of the ants' sisters living on land, as well as other distinct traits.

While information regarding this species remains somewhat new, there is ongoing research emphasizing the behaviors unique to these flying ants, particularly their differing resting times and the metabolic factors at play behind their patterns of activity.
