Areasshapes is a conceptual category used in geometry, computer graphics, and geographic information systems to describe planar figures whose primary specification is their area. An areashape may be any closed figure whose area is defined or constrained, in contrast to specifications by perimeter, side lengths, or bounding boxes. The term encompasses standard shape families such as circles, squares, and rectangles when their area is fixed, as well as irregular polygons whose exact area is prescribed.

To construct an areashape of a given area A, standard formulas apply: circle area A = πr^2 implies r = sqrt(A/π); square area A = s^2 implies s = sqrt(A); rectangle area A = ab with a chosen aspect ratio, so b = A/a. For a triangle with base b and height h, area A = 0.5 b h. Irregular areashapes can be generated by polygonal vertices arranged to enclose area A, for example by sequentially placing vertices and adjusting coordinates until the area matches A.

Key properties include invariance of area under translation and rotation (rigid motion), and scaling changes area by the square of the scale factor. Among all shapes with a fixed area, the circle has the minimum possible perimeter (isoperimetric principle).

Areasshapes are used in resource allocation, map design, layout planning, and graphics algorithms where area is a constraint. In software, area-based operations enable resizing while preserving area or comparing density and efficiency across different shapes.
