aqeedah

Aqeedah refers to the Islamic creed or doctrine, encompassing the core beliefs of a Muslim. It is derived from the Arabic word "aqd," meaning knot or tie, signifying a firm and unshakeable conviction. These fundamental beliefs are traditionally categorized into six articles of faith.

The first article is belief in Allah, the One God, the Creator and Sustainer of the universe. This includes acknowledging His oneness (Tawhid), His attributes, and His absolute power. The second article is belief in His angels, incorporeal beings who serve Allah and carry out His commands. The third article is belief in His books, divine revelations sent to prophets, with the Quran being the final and complete scripture.

The fourth article is belief in His messengers, prophets chosen by Allah to guide humanity, with Muhammad being the final prophet. The fifth article is belief in the Day of Judgment, when all individuals will be resurrected and judged for their deeds, leading to paradise or hellfire. The sixth article is belief in divine decree (Qadar), acknowledging that everything that happens is by the will and knowledge of Allah, while still affirming human free will and accountability.

These six articles form the foundation of a Muslim's faith and shape their understanding of life, the universe, and their purpose within it. They are crucial for the spiritual well-being and practice of Islam.
