apjungia

Apjungia is a genus of spiders in the family Liocranidae. These spiders were first described by Szüts in 2002. They are distributed in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, with the only known species included in the genus being Apjungia concreta.

Apjungia concreta is a species of spider with notable characteristics. Adults measure around 5-6 mm in length. The total length of the prosoma is approximately 15% of total body length, and the abdomen takes up around 65% of total body length. The ocular tetrahedron of Apjungia species is a distinct characteristic found in other Liocranidae genus as well, however Apjungia's ocular tetrahedron is wide and equal in width and length to the sum of the eye lengths and widths of the remaining eyes.

Apjungia, like other Liocranidae spiders, are not particularly known for aggressive behavior. They typically use complex webs to capture prey. These spiders are also known for burrowing into sandy soil or other loose sediments to create their underground habitat, possibly to escape environmental pressures.

Little is currently known about the specific habits of the Apjungia family beyond regular web-spinning and burrowing behaviors. Both distribution and habitats of Liocranidae are found to thrive in subterranean, humid terrains.
