Anycast is a network addressing and routing method where a single IP address is assigned to multiple network interfaces, typically in different geographical locations. When a client attempts to connect to an anycast IP address, the network routes the request to the topologically nearest available server. This proximity is determined by the network's routing protocols, such as BGP.

These servers are then announced to the internet using BGP, with each announcement originating from a different network location.
