Antitsüklonite, also known as anticyclones or high-pressure systems, are large-scale atmospheric regions characterized by high atmospheric pressure at their center compared to the surrounding areas. In the Northern Hemisphere, winds within an anticyclone blow clockwise, while in the Southern Hemisphere, they blow counterclockwise. These systems are typically associated with calm and stable weather conditions. Air in an anticyclone sinks from higher altitudes, a process known as subsidence. As the air sinks, it warms and dries, which inhibits cloud formation and precipitation. Consequently, anticyclones often bring clear skies, sunshine, and light winds.

The presence of an anticyclone can lead to periods of settled weather, which can be beneficial for activities like agriculture or outdoor events. However, prolonged anticyclonic conditions can also result in undesirable weather phenomena. In summer, they can cause heatwaves due to the intense sunshine and lack of cloud cover.
