Antikorrosiva refers to substances or treatments designed to prevent or inhibit corrosion. Corrosion is the degradation of a material, typically a metal, due to chemical reactions with its environment. Antikorrosiva work by forming a protective barrier on the surface of the material, altering the electrochemical process of corrosion, or by acting as sacrificial agents.

Common types of antikorrosiva include coatings, such as paints and varnishes, which physically separate the material from the corrosive environment. Passivation treatments create a thin, protective oxide layer on the surface, as seen with stainless steel.
