Anthr (sometimes spelled "anther") is the part of a flower that contains the pollen. It is typically located at the tip of a stamen, which is the male reproductive organ of a flower. The stamen consists of the anther and the filament, a stalk that supports the anther. Within the anther, pollen grains are produced. These grains contain the male gametes necessary for fertilization.

The shape, size, and color of anthers can vary greatly depending on the plant species. Some anthers are small and inconspicuous, while others are large and brightly colored. The arrangement of anthers within a flower can also differ, sometimes forming a ring, a cluster, or being scattered individually. Once the pollen is mature, the anther typically dehisces, or splits open, releasing the pollen. This release can be passive, relying on wind or gravity, or it can be triggered by external factors like touch or changes in humidity. Pollen is then dispersed, often by wind, insects, birds, or other animals, to facilitate pollination.
